Technological REMIX!!!

December 1, 2009 at 6:12 pm (Uncategorized)

This being bits and pieces of my original essay, i would like to add a little something something.  We all know it to be called a RE-RE-REMIX!!!

Well throughout my essay, i talked alot about how technology is really benifical to the world, well here is a good example The Evolution of Technology.  This example just shows how much technology has prgessed in the last 100 years or so.  Pretty damn impressive huh?

Also thoughout my essay , i talked a lot about how negitive technology can be on children, well just like the first exmaple ill be giving a couple of youtube videos.  This video shows a kid whos mom deleted his “World of Warcraft account” .  GEEZE!!! Im glad im not like that.  Here’s another technological advanced kid Richie Rich.  Although I loved this movie, I came to realize that kids who have this kind of technology it is hard for a kid to bond with his or her parents.Even though technology saved his parents life in the movie.

Overall there are too many pros and cons intechnology, people can can agree or disagree with my thoery on technology. But at the end of the day it is still pretty true.  Read my essay, it will make a lot more sense…

Remember when fax machines were the next big thing and Zach’s dinosaur cell phone from “Saved by the Bell” turned heads, in a good way? In hindsight, technology has made great strides in the last 10 to 20 years. The whole world stays connected because of today’s technological advances. Dating back to the late 1980’s and early 1990’s technology featured simple computers to calculate stocks and cell phones the size of a brick. Now computers consist of millions of different functions to help the modern person in almost anything and everything. Not only has the computer made its way up, but cell phones, music devices, and cars have also undergone wide-ranging innovations. It is very hard not to find anyone without a cell phone today. Cell phones have made the average person’s life so much easier by calling, texting, and portable Internet. Today’s cell phones are so much more convenient because they are the size of a human hand, if not smaller, making them portable and readily accessible by people of all ages. Personal music devices also have made their way up the chart; iPods, Zunes, and MP3 players have become commonplace.  I’m sure we all remember the walk-men, the CD players, and everyone’s favorite: the BOOM BOX.  Many technological advances have been innovated in my lifetime.  Not only has technology been an abundant part of my life; with these innovations there are many pros and cons to how technology is being used today.

Technology has been a vital part in many lives in the last fifteen to twenty years including mine.  I could not imagine how people would be able to get through the day or week without a technological device.  Also without technology people would not be able to contact friends and family or have updates to the news, weather, and their work.  Technology plays a large role in connecting us to the world around us; without it we would become detached from national and global issues.

Being able to use technology has made a big impact on my life because I am constantly using electronic devices throughout the week.  A common device that I use is my cell phone.  I use a cell phone frequently to call and text friends and family or check my email or Facebook on the phone’s Wi-Fi connection.  Without today’s technological advances, I would still have to use the pay phone or a land line to get in touch with someone. Being able to use such great technological devices is important to me because I am connected to the world twenty-four hours a day seven days a week.

Growing up with technology has been a blessing because of the ease and quickness with which we can perform tasks today compared to in previous generations.  For example, my parents did not have any of the things I have as they grew up.  They would have to wait to use the house phone to call friends, while in this society I can just call my friends and family on a cell phone too casual language, instead say at any time.  Also it is very easy now to contact people, but back then it was very hard to communicate with others as phones connections were unpredictable.  The only thing my parents had that I wish I had is that they got to live their youth without any distractions of the outside world. Alright, I suggested above you mention the benefits of knowing about the world but you have something to the contrary here. If you explain more about how media today often overloads us with frivolous information or something then that would work.

The reason I say that my parents were better off without technology is because they lived in a technological “free” world.  In that time people were always open to others, not just sucked in by their technological devices.  Nowadays people do not display common courtesy because of how “important” they are, because they just happen to have a Bluetooth earpiece in their ear.  For example, I once saw someone get kicked out of a hospital because he was listening to his iPod on full blast and would not turn it off after specifically being told twice before.  Sometimes a kid at the dinner table, I say this because my family is big on eating together during dinner, is texting during a meal.  Not only is that rude and disrespectful, but it also increases the likelihood the kid is going to grow up without manners.

Also another concern I have towards technology is the concerning trend of kids nowadays not receiving as much exercise as they should.  When I was a kid I would always be the first one up and outside ready to play and the last to go back inside once I was all “played” out.  My friends and I were all very active; luckily I continued this habit into high school and decided to do cross-country and track.  So it’s a lot easier for me to stay in shape and use technology to the fullest.  You need this sentence to say you are motivated to stay fit in spite of the lure of electronic gaming.  However by and large, all kids do is play their Xbox, play station, and listen to their iPods and are not getting outside and being active.  There are millions of kids in the United States that are getting bigger and bigger because all they like to do is eat fast food, play video games, and watch television.  I understand why adults need cell phones and computers, but kids who are under the age of ten?  These kids can better spend their time doing other stuff like: reading, schoolwork, or exercising.

Finally, I would like to say how technology has influenced my life is well the temptation of being glued to an electronic device.  Technology just has so much to offer that people’s lives revolve around it.  Technology has made such a big impact not only in my life but many people’s lives because of how much it helps us. I say this because it is true; if I were to go to “Wall Street” or “Times Square” I would see thousands of people on their cell phones, laptops, iPods, and or PDAs.  Technology is what people feed on to stay ahead in this hard competitive and comparative world.

On the whole, technology has made tremendous strides in my generation and remains an essential part of my life; I learned a lot by watching television, or playing video games, and I would always be interested in how a computer worked and functioned when I was younger.  Although technology has the potential to do things ranging from making our daily chores simpler to helping save lives, if used in excess it can take away a vital part of a child’s life, whether it being taking away form his or hers education or his or hers “play time.”  Nonetheless, when used appropriately and in moderation, the benefits of technology far outweigh its shortcomings and I look forward to seeing firsthand how it shapes the landscape of our world in the next decades.
